Does Using a Hardware Breakpoint affect CSL Resources?

Typically, the hardware breakpoint unit is a separate, dedicated resource, which does not generally use CSL resources. The following situations are exceptions.

  • A CSL function can be stopped whenever a hardware breakpoint occurs. The user would specify how the logic is stopped and some routing would be used because the function would connect to the EVENT signal, which is part of the CSI bus interface.
  • A CSL function can cause a breakpoint event by driving the BREAK signal. Again, this will use some routing resources.

The routing resources used by breakpoints in the CSL logic are minimal and typically have no affect on the user's application. Again, the routing resources would only be used if the user specifically asked for them.
